   Approximately a week after Gryphon Investors (San Francisco, CA) acquired a controlling interest in Trinity Consultants (Dallas, TX), Triangle Capital Corp. (Raleigh, NC) announced that it has closed on an $8.2 million investment in the air quality consulting firm. In a press release, Triangle said that it is “a specialty finance company organized to provide customized financing solutions to lower middle market companies located throughout the United States.” The firm typically invests $5 million to $20 million per transaction in companies with annual revenue in the range of $20 million to $100 million and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) between $3 million and $20 million. Engineering News-Record ranked Trinity Consultants at number 136 on its 2011 list of the top 200 environmental firms based on nearly $44 million in revenue in 2010.
