   Cascade Investment, LLC (Kirkland, WA), the investment firm owned by MicroSoft founder William (Bill) Gates, has acquired another 4 million shares of Republic Services Inc. (Phoenix, AZ) for about $108 million, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Gates now owns 65.15 million shares of Republic stock, or about 17.5% of the company. For the third quarter of 2011, Republic reported revenue of more than $2.116 billion and net income $192.5 million, or $0.52 per share, exceeding analysts’ expectations.
